The McGowan Labor Government is committed providing Western Australian women with accessible, affordable and quality health and mental health services.

Women’s experiences of health and well being differ to that of men and we’re committed to meeting their unique needs.

It’s essential to recognise gender as a determinant of health, as well as a risk factor for chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and cancers, which are the leading causes of death in Australian women.

Women are over-represented in mental health related issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, perinatal anxiety, depression and postpartum psychosis.

Continuing to improve health outcomes for women requires a shared commitment and strong partnerships among government agencies, non-government organisations, the women’s community health sector, communities, women, and their support networks.

We’ve launched the WA Women’s Health and Wellbeing Policy.

We’re working hard to deliver the State’s first-ever whole-of-Government strategy to tackle Sexual Violence against women and girls.

We’ve passed laws introducing safe access zones around Abortion clinics so that women accessing these services can do so with privacy and safety free from protestors.
