Western Australia's first ever children's hospice has received development approval.
This is an absolutely tremendous decision.
It means that for the first time in WA history, children who require respite and palliative care will have a place to call home to treasure their precious moments together– alongside their families.
The hospice, located in Swanbourne, will support families through their toughest time, with access to a hydrotherapy pool, playground and garden spaces, play areas, communal living and dining areas, and therapy and clinical spaces.
It hasn't been easy to get to this point with some people in the community opposing it.
But it's going ahead because it's simply the right thing to do – for WA children and their families.
