We're leaving no stone unturned when it comes to boosting WA's housing supply and increasing rental stock.
That's why our 2024-25 State Budget will fund a $5,000 incentive for up to 1,000 vacant property owners to put their dwellings on the long-term rental market.
I was delighted to join Premier Roger Cook, Treasurer Rita Saffioti MLA, Commerce Minister Sue Ellery MLC and Minister for Housing John Carey MLA to announce this important incentive for WA's housing market right here in Bateman.
We're also extending our program to incentivise owners of short-term rental accommodation, such as Air BnBs, to convert their property to long-term rentals. Over 150 new long-term rentals have come into the market in the first six months of the program.
Our state's strong economy and attractive lifestyle is driving unprecedented demand for housing, but Western Australians can trust that the Cook Labor Government is doing everything we can to free more housing stock and tacking the cost-of-living.
