Just in - a re-elected Cook Labor Government will expand the highly successful Aboriginal Ranger Program.
This program has created more than 1,400 on-Country jobs and made a real difference on the ground in regional and remote WA.
We will invest a further $20 million in the program so we can continue to provide meaningful employment opportunities while protecting our environment.
This incredible program is responsible for managing almost 80,000 hectares, including 2,588 kilometres of tracks.
Some of the land and sea management activities undertaken include biodiversity monitoring and research, fire management, feral animal and weed management and cultural awareness for visitors.
Of the 1400 jobs created, around 45 per cent of the jobs have been taken up by women.
