The Cook Labor Government is protecting our unique environment for generations to come.

We're committing to double Perth's tree cover by 2040, with one million new trees to be planted by 2035.

This new $16.9 million program includes 'treebates', the first program of its kind in WA, to encourage Western Australians to plant more native trees on their properties.

The $6.9 million commitment includes:

    • Providing 10,000 $150 rebates per year for Western Australians to purchase native trees from WA-owned nurseries.
    • Multiple adults in one household can access the rebates.
    • The rebate will be redeemable in the ServiceWA app.

The commitment also includes a $10 million Urban Canopy Growth program to plant one million trees in metropolitan Perth by 2035. State Government agencies, local governments and community organisations will receive grants to plant trees on available land.

This builds on the work we've already undertaken to make our local communities greener, leafier and more liveable in the years to come.

The WA Labor Government has done more for the environment than any Government before.

Only Roger Cook and WA Labor will protect and enhance our environment.
