We know Western Australians are doing it tough, and that's why tackling cost of living is our number one priority.

WA Labor has a proven record of delivering cost of living assistance for regional Western Australians, and we're building on this by committing $33.7 million to boost the Regional Pensioner Travel Card and deliver the new Country Week Assistance Program.

Regional Pensioner Travel Card

  • We will provide a $100 increase to the Regional Pensioner Travel Card - bringing its value to $775 per year.
  • The Regional Pensioner Travel Card reflects the additional costs faced by pensioners and other people on income support living in the regions, providing financial support for fuel or taxi travel.

Country Week Assistance Program

  • This program will provide financial support to schools to reduce the cost of Country Week events for students and their parents.
  • Financial support will be based on the distance a school is from Perth - schools located 300km or less will have their costs reduced by $250 per student, and schools more than 300k from Perth will have their costs reduced by more than $500.

These initiatives will put hundreds of dollars back into the pockets of families and pensioners living in our regions.
